Flashback Scud

Have you ever been fishing in a lake when you saw trout in very shallow water "tailing", or chasing food aggressively. Often, they are feeding on scuds. Scuds comprise a significant percentage of a trout's diet in many lakes and rivers. This scud pattern is tied with a flashback shell casing over the back of the fly, and is ribbed with copper wire to make an extremely durable fly. I always carry several colors of scuds with me to ensure that I can catch fish when the trout are keyed on scuds.
