This pattern is very unique in that it is tied with only pheasant tail and copper wire, no thread. It has a wound copper wire body which is covered with a wound pheasant tail over the body and thorax. A very simple, but uniquely effective fly. The copper helps this fly sink quicker. I often use this pattern as a dropper fly behind a Prince Nymph. It is the exact imitation of the Pale Morning Dun nymph, but resembles many other mayfly nymphs as well. Can be tied on a straight shank nymph hook, or a curved shank scud hook, your choice. |
