When the ants are on, you gotta have them. Ant hatches are not very predictable. I often find myself mid-afternoon in a float tube on a high country lake with no dry fly action, when it seems like someone turns a switch on. My first guess is always a Black or Brown Flying Ant. Trout get stupid when these flies are on the water in any quantity. Make sure to always have a few in your box. |
